What is a MokaFive™ LivePC image?

A MokaFive™ LivePC image contains everything needed to run a virtual computer — an operating system and a set of applications. It is a full computing environment created with MokaFive Creator and it is streamed from the network to users and run on their computers locally. What is the MokaFive™ Creator?

The MokaFive Creator is a software application for subscribing to, downloading, and running LivePCs. LivePC Creators can also use it to create and share LivePCs. Our technologies let you use your LivePCs easily. You can even start using a LivePC before it is completely downloaded. Download the Creator to try out some LivePCs.

Who can be a LivePC Creator?

Anyone who knows how to install an operating system and applications on a computer can be a LivePC Creator. More technical information on how to create and share a LivePC can be found in our MokaFive Creator Manual.

How much does it cost? Is it free software?

Currently, the software is free of charge. The LivePC hosting service is also free for registered users. We want you to try it out and give us feedback. However, it may not always be free software. MokaFive LivePC is not open source software.

What can be run inside a MokaFive LivePC?

Pretty much anything that can run on an x86 machine can be run inside a LivePC. Besides running the Linux operating system, you can create LivePCs running different Windows operating systems. Once a LivePC is running an operating system, you can install any off-the-shelf software for that system in the LivePC. Whether you want to run Microsoft Office on a current version of Windows or old games which only run under DOS. You can install anything from VPN to VOIP.

How can I carry my LivePCs with me?

Yes. Beside installing a LivePC on a desktop or a laptop computer, you can install the MokaFive Creator and LivePCs on any USB portable storage device. When you install the MokaFive Creator, just select a USB flash drive, a USB external hard disk, or an iPod as the target. You can then plug the USB device into almost any computer to use your LivePCs.

What operating systems are supported?

  • Host operating system: Windows Vista, Windows XP (Home, Pro, or Media Center) with service pack 2, or Intel Mac with OS X 10.4 or 10.5
  • LivePC operating system: Microsoft Windows, Linux, Novell Netware, Sun Solaris, Apple Darwin
  • Memory (RAM): 1 GB minimum, 2 GB recommended (running more LivePCs requires additional memory)

  • Is this a Local Host installation or a USB installation?
  • Is there both a Host installation and USB installation?
  • Windows only: Create a log file by pressing Ctrl-Shift-F1 (all 3 keys) while running MokaFive Player or Creator. This will save moka5support.zip to your desktop. Attach this file to your email.
