Summary

This KB article is aimed at providing guidelines on how to distribute a personalized MokaFive LivePC image. That is, you want to personalize the LivePC for an end user and then provide them the personalized image. This is similar to traditional PC provisioning where a help desk may set up a machine for a user and then distribute them the already configured platform.

The process is divided in three phases: A) Preparation of Image, B) Preparation of distribution media and C) Consumption of the distribution media.

Fusion Bundling

We support an admin-bundled Fusion Hypervisor with a user-provisioned Fusion license. The flow described below assumes that Admin has already uploaded Fusion to the Management Console. If the Admin has not provided a license key to use with Fusion, the user will be prompted for a Fusion license key when they launch a LivePC on a Mac host. The user can then provide his personal license key.

Pre-Requisites

Steps

A) Preparation of the Image – At the IT-Desk

Before you begin, please make sure a LivePC has been created and uploaded to the MokaFive Management Server. From this LivePC, an Administrator can then prepare a master image, which will be used for bulk provisioning. The same master image can be deployed both to Mac and Windows hosts.

Pre-req:

  1. IT-desk has access to PC that is connected to corporate network
  2. IT-desk has user’s credentials or user is available to provide credentials at two stages mentioned below
  3. IT-desk has a USB/DVD to ship the prepared image to end-user

Steps:

  1. IT technician starts with IT owned PC and installs Desktop Player on it
  2. Using the user’s credentials, the support-desk launches MokaFive Player and subscribes to a LivePC
  3. Optional: Once LivePC is subscribed, IT Technician logs-in adds user’s account to Local Admin group. This can also be done automatically by policy.
  4. Administrator logs-in with user’s credentials and caches profile
  5. Administrator installs/configures the VPN for user’s use.
  6. Administrator shuts down image, exits the Player

B) Preparation of the Distribution media – At the IT-Desk

IT technician takes a USB or DVD and prepares the following:

  1. Copy MokaFiveInstaller.exe to \ of USB (here \ is root of USB)
  2. Download Mac installer from Management Console – PlayerInstaller.mpkg.zip, unzip it and copy PlayerInstaller.mpkg to \ of USB
  3. Create a folder named provision in \ of USB
  4. Download the MokaFive Player Windows installer from the Management Server. You can get the installer by either going to 'Home > Downloads tab' or Settings > Client Installers and choosing the VMware Player from the Windows column. The installer will be called 'MokaFive_Player_version'; where version is the version of your client pack.
  5. Once downloaded, rename the Windows installer to: NSIS-Player-Setup.exe
  6. Copy the newly downloaded and renamed installer (NSIS-Player-Setup.exe) to the \provision folder of the USB.
  7. Copy the MokaFive folder located in the directory on the machine in which you personalized the LivePC to the Provision folder:
    • If you are on a Windows 7 machine, follow these steps to locate your MokaFive folder:
    • If you installed MokaFive Player version 3.12.2 and earlier - please find your LivePCs here: go to \Users\Username\App Data\Roaming\ and
    • If you installed MokaFive Player version 3.13.x and later - please find your LivePCs either in:
      • Default location: \users\Username\App Data\Local
      • Custom location: this will be dependent on where you chose to install the LivePC data file
    • If you are using a Mac, your MokaFive folder is located at: ~/Library/Application Support
  8. Take the 'mokafive' from %UserProfile%\Roaming\ of the host where IT technician downloaded and prepared the LivePC and copy to \provision\ of USB
  9. Rename the \provision\mokafive folder in USB to \provision\mokafive-initial

USB/DVD is ready and will be shipped to user.

C) Consumption of the Distribution media – At the end-user desk

Pre-req:

  1. End-user has received the USB/DVD shipped by the IT-Desk
  2. End-user has administrative privileges on his/her host

Steps:

  1. User receives the USB/DVD and uses appropriate installer for his/her host OS [The installer will automatically copy the prepared LivePC]
  2. User launches the Player and provides the creds when prompted
  3. User launches the LivePC
  4. User logs in the guest and connects to VPN

Provisioning Next User

  1. IT technician will then use “Prepare for duplication” to reset the subscription on IT owned PC
  2. Restart from Section 'A', Step #2 with next user’s credentials
