Summary

This KB article provides steps to configure and install an Apple iSight camera in a Windows 7 LivePC.

Pre-Requisites
Need to have one of the following MokaFive components installed:
  • MokaFive Creator or Player
  • LivePC with MokaFive Tools and VMWare Tools installed

Steps
To configure and install the iSight camera in a Windows 7 LivePC:
  1. In Creator (if you want to push out these changes out centrally) or in Player (if this is a one time configuration for a user), start your LivePC and log in.
  2. Copy the Apple Boot Camp drivers attached to this KB article (newer drivers might be available from Apple) to c:\windows\system32\drivers.
  3. After the Apple Boot Camp drivers have been installed, reboot your LivePC. You might want to make sure to download and install any available updates from Apple's Boot Camp Support site. If there are any updates, please install them and reboot.
  4. If you are in Creator, please shutdown the image, upload your changes and target the new version to your users.
  5. From a MokaFive Mac Player, start your LivePC that has the changes. At this point, you have two options to connect your iSight camera: manually and automatically.

Manual Connection of the iSight camera to the LivePC (this method is preferred for those users who will require the camera to be available to Mac OSX while the LivePC is running)

  • From within the hypervisor's menu, go to Virtual Machine > USB & Bluetooth > Connect Apple Built-in iSight

Note: After installing the Boot Camp drivers and connecting the iSight, Windows may report that it does not recognize the new hardware. If it asks to look for and install drivers, click Cancel.

The Windows Device Manager may show two entries for the iSight, one under Other devices where it reports that the device is not recognized, and the other under Imaging devices where it is recognized. This is to be expected because of the way Windows treats the Apple drivers. The iSight does not appear in the list of connected drives and devices in (My) Computer, but software that requires a camera does recognize the iSight.

Automatic Connection of the iSight camera to the LivePC (this method is preferred for those users who will not require the camera to be available to Mac OSX while the LivePC is running)

  • In order to automatically connect the iSight camera to the LivePC during LivePC launch, you must create a custom VMX setting either in Creator (for all users) or Player (for individual users). Please follow the instructions here to configure this.
