xpfromcd is now part of the LivePC Engine's unattended install
xpfromcd is no longer supported
More info on the unattended install can be found here.
moka5 has created the xpfromcd tool to help you easily create a Windows LivePC. It automates the installation using your Windows Install CD.
Benefits of using xpfromcd
- Your Windows LivePC will be ready for publish and update. This tool sets up Windows such that the 'system state' is separate from the 'user state', putting user data on a different virtual drive. This means your users can get updates without losing their existing data.
- moka5 tools are set up for you. You can access your files in your 'My Documents' folder from both inside as well as outside the LivePC. You may quickly open your files without starting the LivePC.
Installation steps with xpfromcd
- Start the moka5 Engine. Be sure that you have internet access, that Windows file sharing is enabled, and that you don't have any LivePCs running.
- Download the xpfromcd package. Unzip the package into root of a drive for example into C:\.
- Insert your Windows Install CD into your CD-ROM drive. Note the drive letter.
- In the unzipped copy of xpfromcd double click 'start.bat'. Note that windows will preview zipped file contents. Double clicking the zipped file will not work. Click 'run' if are presented with a warning about the publisher being unverified.
- The installation will take about 45 minutes. Once complete you may use your Windows LivePC.
- To share your LivePC with others, see the package creation, upload, and sharing section of the LivePC Creator Guide
