LivePC™ Features
LivePCs contain a complete PC software environment — operating system and applications — that users can create for themselves and share with others. LivePCs are played using the moka5 Engine™ and are created using tools inside the moka5 Engine. When you join the moka5 community, you can download different LivePCs from the moka5 LivePC Library™, a public listing of LivePC images. Some of these LivePCs have been created by moka5 and others have been created by other users. These LivePCs were all created for you to test and see how the moka5 technology works.
Multiple LivePCs at Once
You can try, create, and keep as many LivePCs™ as your system can handle, so you aren't limited in finding the LivePCs you like best. Each LivePC runs in its own environment, so it can not interfere with your host PC or with other LivePCs. Use LivePCs to keep different parts of your life separate — work vs. home, kids vs. parents, project vs. project. If you don't need a LivePC any more, just remove it in one click.
Self Healing
Everyone knows this experience — your brand new computer feels fast and snappy, but over time it gets more and more sluggish. Spyware, viruses, and other random crud infect the operating system and use up resources. LivePCs are able to isolate these changes and give you a fresh copy of the operating system every time the LivePC is rebooted — so even if you or another user makes changes to your LivePC environment that could be detrimental, a reboot of your LivePC will take you back to the original state.
Always Up to Date
This is where the “live” in LivePC comes from. When you use a LivePC in the moka5 Engine™, you will automatically get any changes or updates that have been shared by the LivePC's creator. LivePCs are maintenance-free and you never have to worry about your LivePC being out-of-date.
Streaming Download for Fast Access
If you have a broadband connection, the moka5 Engine is able to stream LivePCs and run them before the entire file is downloaded. The moka5 Engine will always download the most important and useful parts of the LivePC first. When you are not using LivePCs, the moka5 Engine will intelligently retrieve data that you will need in the future. This process is carefully controlled to not slow down your computer.
Work Online or Offline
You don't need Internet access to use a LivePC. The moka5 Engine allows you to designate LivePCs that you want to have available for offline use so you can work anywhere. All you need to do is wait for the moka5 Engine to indicate that the LivePC is ready for offline use.
Desktop or Portable
The moka5 Engine can be installed onto a desktop or onto a portable USB drive. Installing onto a portable drive allows you to take your LivePCs everywhere that you go without carrying a laptop. The portable drive will work on any Windows XP computer. When you finish using the moka5 Engine just unplug the portable drive — nothing will be left behind on the “borrowed” computer.
Local Backup and Restore of Portable Drive
When you install the moka5 Engine from a desktop onto a portable USB drive, that desktop becomes the "home base" for the portable drive. Whenever you connect the portable drive to its home base, all of your LivePC files are automatically backed up onto the desktop. If you lose your portable drive, all you need to do is install the moka5 Engine onto a new drive with the same home base. All of your LivePCs will be restored onto the new drive.
