Error importing VMware VM

I am trying to import the Virtual Appliances LAMP server but get the error: "Error occurred while importing: Error: Cannot process VirtualAppliancesLAMP.vmdk. Snapshot and sparse volumes are not supported; try using vmware-vdiskmanager to convert the disk". (any typos are my own as this message is transcribed from a error message box)

I personally created this VMDK for Virtual Appliances. As per the suggestion, I tried using vmware-vdiskmanager to convert the VMDK to the same file format to no avail.

I also tried creating a new VMDK (using VMware Server) and import that, but got the same error message.

This VMDK works on VMware Server, Player, and ESX, so I am confident of the file's integrity.

The Virtual Appliances LAMP server can be downloaded from:

If anybody could shed some light, I would greatly appreciate it . Thanks.
