Interested in finding out how to run a LivePC entirely off of a DVD

I havea numbe of mobile schools (laptops) that get shipped around the world and would like to be able to either make a bootable live cd based on a VMWare appliance I've created, or to be able to run the LivePC engine and a LivePC off of a DVD. Is there someway to do either?

Currently the LivePC

Currently the LivePC Engine/LivePCs will not run as a LiveCD/DVD.

Can you explain the challenges you have with mobile computing and how a LiveCD/DVD would be a solution?

Challenges with mobile computing

Our major issue is consistancy. Our students are forever mucking about with configurations on our mobile schools and I'd like to be able to eliminate this behaviour if possible. We have a set of fixed configurations that we use, including specific IP Addressing, software revisions, etc. that we require for our lab exercises to be doable.
Further, we currently have to ship our laptops around. I'd like to be able to just ship a CD or DVD to a customer and have them use their own laptops.
BTW, I understand that Moka5 doesn't support LiveCD/DVDs right now, but, I'm more interested in seeing if I could replicate the functionality provided by running Moka5 off of a USB drive, but on a CD or DVD. Is that possible?

Why not ship USB drives?

Hi Allan,

Just curious: Instead of shipping CD/DVDs to students, why not ship USB drives to students? Even though they are not as low-cost as CD/DVDs they are definitely cheaper than shipping laptops around...

It is possible to ship CD/DVDs to students in this way: they receive the CD/DVD, install the moka5 Engine software along with the LivePC you built, and start using the LivePC. Would that be something you are interested in?

However, it is currently not possible to directly run a LivePC from a CD/DVD without leaving anything behind.

Thanks,
