This LivePC provides a basic installation of Gentoo ready for a user to add software. Gentoo wields the power of the Portage sofware database which is a repository of open-source software that is continuously updated by the community. A searchable database of installable software is available at gentoo-portage.com. This allows a user to install virtually any open source software into the Gentoo environment without having to know the specific details required to build the package.

Warning: This LivePC will dump you at a linux shell with nary a GUI to guide you. This is a starting point for a user that would like to take a shot at configuring their own installation of Gentoo.
Because you are customizing this base installation of linux, no ubscription updates will be available. This is essentially a stage3 installation for x86 with a kernel tuned for virtualization that includes sound and network drivers.
Once you have downloaded the system you should do the following:
- Disable the feed from updating the LivePC. (a checkbox in the UI)
- Enable updating the LivePC. (a checkbox in the UI)
- Boot up the LivePC, you will automatically be logged in as user 'me'
- Follow the directions that the console gives you to install software
- Enjoy!
