Engine won't start - Error:Cannot find VMware player on your computer. Please reinstall

I have just done a fresh install of the LivePC engine to my USB pen drive but when the engine tries to start it gives me an error saying: Cannot find VMware player on your computer. Please reinstall the LivePC engine or the VMware player.

I have formatted the drive and reinstalled but it didn't help. I have tried installing the beta release with the same results.

Hardware = Dell Inspiron Laptop
Windows XP Pro SP2
1.5GB of memory

Pen drive = Transcend 8GB formatted with FAT32

Anybody know what the problem is?

Do you have any VMware

Do you have any VMware Products on your host?

It sounds like VMware Player somehow did not install when you started the Engine from the USB device.

Can you provide the following information to [email protected]?
1. If you can sent the output of the following, this will confirm if there is any VMWare products.

Copy and paste this into the Run command.
reg export "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Vmware, Inc." "%USERPROFILE%"\Desktop\vmwarereg.txt

2. m5engine.log which is on the USB's drive letter under:
"moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5user\Application Data\moka5\Engine"

3. Are you logged in with Administrator rights?
4. Can you install VMplayer manually? Search for VMware Player.msi after installing to the USB

Thanks

Kevin

Got it working!

I did have VMware 4.5 workstation installed on my pc. I uninstalled it, formatted my usb drive again and installed the LivePC engine. It works now. I'm curious though. Why would having VMware on my pc cause problems when running from my usb drive?
I have a couple of questions while I have your attention.
1. How do I delete/uninstall/remove the default Fearless Browser LivePC?
2. If I create a virtual machine using VMware server will I be able to import it? Will it work?

Glad you got it

Glad you got it working.

VMware 4.5 workstation will not co-exist with VMware Player 1.x. See VMware Compatibilty. Starting with VMware 5.5 workstation, VMware Player 1.x is also bundled.

1. To remove a LivePC, select the downward chevrons to the right of the buffer bar. There should be a "Remove this LivePC".
2. The LivePC Engine supports some Virtual Machines see Importing Virtual Machine
