Changelog: Updated description.

Syllable is a small desktop operating system (only 90MB!) that boots in seconds. The goal of Syllable is to create a reliable and easy-to-use GPLed operating system for the home and small office user. Root password="root". (Don't log in as guest.)

Root password is "root" and

Root password is "root" and guest password is "guest".

SSH missing...

Hello,

Syllable is very cool, very tiny,... but I think that ssh should be in this Live PC...

The display seems to have some bugs. Sometimes the things are only displayed when the cursors is passing by.

Otherwise, this is very nice to have a so fast boot up ! :-)

can't share files

This LivePC doesn't allow file sharing so I couldn't figure how to get information in and out of the VM, without using the browser to email things to myself. To me this was huge. Good try it looked nice.

Posted new version

Hello all,

I've listened to your comments and upgraded the Syllable LivePC. Here are the major changes:

  • Upgraded to the latest Syllable 0.6.2 release. This version seems to have fixed the graphics glitches that were present in the previous version.
  • Installed network necessities: OpenSSH 4.5p1, RSync 2.6.9 and WGet 1.9.1.
Now you can ssh out of the LivePC and easily copy files using wget or scp.

  • Changed default home page.

I'm still working on how to get a shared folder working in Syllable. I need to build the vmcmd program for Syllable so that I can use it to extract the share information from the vmx file from within the guest OS. I'm also having trouble mounting the share from within Syllable. If anyone could help out, that would be great, as I don't know if/when I'll be able to get to it.

Note that unless you turn on "Let me make changes" in the LivePC Engine, any changes you make will be thrown away on every Syllable shutdown. This is because there is no persistent disk configured for Syllable.

If you are interested, there are quite a few Syllable packages you can download and try out. If anyone wants to update this LivePC to install new programs, let me know and I'll make you the maintainer.

how to download the Syllable 0.6.3

MVS SUBRAMANYAM
how to download the Syllable 0.6.3 with extention is .lpc how to open plz tellme friend.

Install the moka5 Engine First

You must download the Engine and install it. The Engine understands LPC files.

You can download the Engine here: http://www.moka5.com/products/downloads.html

Once the Engine is installed, you should be able to open the lpc files by double-clicking them. On the Windows version you can drag the lpc file onto the main engine window to subscribe to that LivePC.
