Forcing full download?
Hi,
I installed LivePC in order to test the new Office Versions. I used the Vista Demo and installed the office trial versions. Both work fine.
But still only 35% of the system is downloaded (it took days to download it).
Now it looks like the system loads new parts only "on demand". I think this is the idea of live PC but now I have a problem. I want to demonstrate some features of the new office version offline. I am afraid that this will fail or get stuck because the system will try to load some parts not yet loaded.
Therfore I have two questions:
a) is there a way to force LivePC to keep on downloading until 100% even when not needed by the system so far?
b) Is it a problem that my cache (as all the others) is now full (I took over the 2GB limit from the default)? Will I really have to restart in order to resize the cache? #
If b) is true I would strongly suggest to increase the default cache setting to 10GB or more and to name it differently. "Dynamic Image" would fit while "cache" is normally only used for temporary data storage.
Thanks
Ronald
Engine version prior to 7695
Engine version prior to 7695 had an issue downloading the Vista LivePC.
a. If the LivePC is not 100% downloaded, there should be a downward arrow that you should be able to click on. It should keep downloading until the Vista LPC is 100% full.
b. The Vista LivePC was updated recently from 2.7GiB to 1.5GiB so the default cache should fit (assuming only Vista is in the list). The new image will not update on your system since it sounds like you have enable the Keep local changes to install Office. Resizing the Cache will require a new download and we are looking into ways to grow the cache w/o lossing the downloaded cache.
c. The "Cache" may not be the best name and thanks for the suggestion. The cache is used both for temporary and permanent storage of the LivePCs that are downloaded. Setting the LivePC to Offline allows the LivePC to remain in the cache (if enough total cache space was available)
Also check out the FAQ and you can probably archive your cache and custom LivePCs if needed.
