Take it With you on USB
I just got into this and I have read a lot of the website but something I must be missing something or the site is not simple enough for grandma yet.
I installed the live pc engine, and I was under the impression that I could have a totally working xp on a usb stick and carry it with me on trips and use it on a freinds pc if needed to.
Like I said I installed it to the desktop and ran it and had trouble at first, cause I had vmware workstation 5.0 installed and you do not flat out tell the ingredients anywhere for a flawless, headacheless install unless you read the forums.
Nevertheless, I read and found out that I must have 5.5 or something inorder for the vmware player to work. So I do that, and now it works and I run it and fearless browser comes to life.
Now I use the xpfromcd to create me a new xp environment only then to find out that a Dell OEM cd will not work. Thanks forums.
This should be on the site in plain site along with vmware requirements.
Anyways. I did that and its working good and so is the Vista download, although its at 80% but its worked so far fine.
Well come to think of it I think it was at 90% and now its back down... hrmmmm
Anyways what my question is, How do I put this stuff on a usb stick now.
I want to take what I have and put it on USB. Is that a simple task?
Ok but this wasnt about
Ok but this wasnt about vista or the site mainly, its about how to I transfer my setups to USB or actually why is there not any more stickys or howtos on putting it on your usb after you have made all things work on your desktop and vice versa.
Here are the instructions
Here are the instructions for moving a LivePC from Host to USB.
- Install Engine to USB with the appropriate cache size.
- copy the LivePC folders from %userprofile%\Application Data\moka5\Engine to the USB drive moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5User\Application Data\moka5\Engine
- If you needed the cache: copy the flat.* files from the Program Files\moka5\Engine\cache folder to the USB drive: moka5\Program Files\moka5\Engine\cache
- For user files/shared files (optional) copy as needed:
Desktop User Files:
%userprofile%\My Documents\My LivePC Documents\
Desktop Shared LivePC Documents:
%userprofile%\My Documents\My Shared LivePC Documents
USB User Files:
moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5user\My Documents\My LivePC Documents\
USB Shared LivePC Documents:
moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5user\My Documents\My Shared LivePC Documents
More sticky notes and FAQs are in the works.

Ok that worked out really
Ok that worked out really well.
Only will work on XP SP1 or greater. Will this stuff ever work on win2k or later?
Currently there are no
Currently there are no plans. If there are more users that request for W2K, it may happen.

moka5 able to run on win2k and up?
Ok, would it be too hard to implement?
Its just that right now, there is always a mix of win2k and xp machines. Sometimes when I go far off somewhere, the people I visit only have win2k. Since vmware player runs on its own and what ever it runs inside of itself doesnt matter to the host computer, how can this be a problem to make moka5 able to run on win2k and up?
The biggest problem is that
The biggest problem is that we don't have the resources to test and validate older platforms like Win2k. We already have our hands full with all the variants of XP plus international versions and now Vista with seven different editions in the US alone! If you are interested in helping to test it out (with no guarantees it will work at all or won't mess up your data) we could send you a version that doesn't have the WinXP restriction. If you test it out and report back that everything works, we could relax the WinXP restriction in future versions; however we wouldn't be able to "officially" support it because we don't have the QA resources.

Thanks for the feedback on
Thanks for the feedback on the website and your experience with the LivePC Engine. Without your feedback, we won't know what to improve on.
We are aware of the download issue with the Vista LivePC and should have it addresses in the next day or so.
Vista LivePC does not download
Sorry for the troubles.
