another n00b question - suse linux desktop resolution stuck at 640 x 480?

OK I've managed to get SUSE going under the LivePC engine, but I can't changed the desktop resolution from 640 x 480, even though I ran Yast2, installed the NVidia drivers, and restarted. The only video card listed is the VMware one, and my 7800GTX isn't in the list of supported NVidia cards when I try to add it; most recent is some version of the 6800. Am I just out of luck on this one? 640 x 480 isn't really a very usable resolution so I hope not, but please be gentle with me ;-)
