LivePC on a LAN
On Windows XP Professional i have created a LivePC with Linux (Fedora Core 6) Operating system. I need to use it only on my LAN which connects 4PCs. I also want to use one of my machines as a server and the remaining 3machines Download the LivePC from the machine acting as server. Can u please let me know how it can be done. I do not want to use any external web server. Can it be done on a local tomcat web server.?
Any Suggestions in this regard will be helpfull.

Chaitanya

BTW, I would like to install the server locally because I have limited bandwidth (from India), and do not want to upload to the beta garage even if it is private. I just want to use the local pc on my own LAN.
Re: LivePC on a LAN
Hi Chaitanya,
You can have a LivePC hosted on your LAN. After creating your LivePC, use these steps, along with the instructions below, to publish your LivePC.
In Step 1, upload your LivePC to the web server on your LAN instead of a hosting service. Similarly, in Step 2, use the local URL for your LivePC during publishing. Since you do not want any one else (other than yourself) to subscribe to your LivePC, you may prefer to publish it as a private LivePC. To do this, check the "Do NOT include this LivePC in the public BetaGarage" checkbox when publishing the LivePC.
Thank you for using the LivePC Engine, and let us know how it goes.

LAN Hosting
I followed your instructions but the registration fails as it cannot get past this error message:
"Test request to Package URL failed. Make sure that this URL is valid and accessible."
Of course the test request fails. I have check the "Do NOT include ..." check-box.

I had the same issue at work. Our lan is behind a firewall and I'm assuming that Moka is resolving the url and making sure its working. This probably failed in my case. All our webservers are in a DMZ and all others are not accessable from the internet. From my home box it connects and the LivePC gets added. I'm just throwing that out there and don't take my word for it since I have yet to get a regular un-firewalled webserver to work after uploading the file. I wish you could just configure the client and not have to upload the file and redownload.
We do have an issue with the
We do have an issue with the web portal checking for reachable URLs even on private LivePCs. I hope to get that fixed soon.

Rich,
A common issue is forgetting to include the file name of "vm.xml" or having a case sensitivity issue. Also can you access URL of the vm.xml file via the browser?
