Live Engine incompatibility with VMWare Server 1.0.1?
I am running the Live Engine from an external USB hard drive. When I try to run a Live Engine virtual PC from a PC with VMWare Server 1.0.1 installed on it, the virtual PC fails to load and says that a reboot will be necessary to complete installation of some system files relating to VMWare (slightly worrying considering that I thought Live Engine was supposed to be portable software?). After a reboot of the PC the Live Engine virtual PC works correctly, but this has broken the VMWare Server installation on the PC, which requires a reinstall of VMWare Server (which then in turn breaks Live Engine again). I am happy to supply the log files if necessary. How should I proceed?
Thanks for the response
Not to worry, in that case I will switch from VMWare Server to VMWare player.
Sorry for the inconvenience
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for reporting this issue. This issue is being tracked with defect #2912.
LivePC Engine is not compatible with VMware Server. Starting in the beta-6 (7183), the USB launch was modified to help with making USB launches more reliable. It's so aggressive now that it forgot to check if VMware Server is present :(
