moka5

better understanding of the hard drives

I'm fairly new to this and have enjoyed using moka5. I've been using moka5 for about a week and need better understanding of how the hard drives work. For example, I'm making a Windows LivePC that I want to use on my USB HDD only. No one has access to the HDD unless I lose it. Do I really need two hard drives? What's the difference between system and local? Where do I install Windows on, system or local? I know in the manuals there is a guide on setting up a windows xp livepc but it needs to be more in-depth.

Awesome product!

The 2 disks you are

The 2 disks you are referring to is relative to the LivePC configuration and is not dependent on how the LivePC Engine is installed. If you plan on publishing the LivePC to share with others, it is recommended that 2 disks are used:

system - Used for the main operating system and for applications.
local - Used for personal storage of data

When an update to the published LivePC becomes available, only the system disk is updated while the local disk is not updated (it's got your personal data with the persistent option).

If you plan on keeping the LivePC local (unpublished), then there will never be any published updates to the LivePC so a single disk or multiple virtual disks can be used since you will be maintaining the LivePC yourself.

Hope this info helps.
