Slow KDE Buffering
I'm trying to load KDE using a T1 connection. It took 20 hours to get to 48%, over the last 2 hours it's now gone down to 46%.
Thanks.
Slow KDE
I'm installing on a Sandisk 2 Gig USB drive. I don't know the cache, I took whatever default it came up with. Is there a way to find out?
I'm in Cleveland, Ohio.
Downloaded at 132 kb/sec and took 4 minutes.
Tried a speed test site nad the figures are all over the place but average out at:
D/L
768 kilobits per second
U/L
1039 kilobits per second
I've sent the log file, it will come with a subject of Slow KDE
Just got a message the file is too big, it's actually 4 Mb.
Hi, We received the log file
Hi,
We received the log file and we are analyzing it. In the meantime, could you try creating a text file "K:\moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5User\Application Data\moka5\Engine\env\prefetch_throttle" whose contents are just the character "0" and let us know if this helps? (The file length should be 1 byte and there should be no return at the end of the line after the "0".) Given your connection type, it should take no longer than 70-80 minutes to download the whole KDE LivePC.

Can you post the log file
Can you post the log file at: http://www.sharebig.com or http://www.filefactory.com and send us the link to the file?
Is this correct
So I'm to create a file with no extension called:
prefetch_throttle
and put it in:
K:\moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5User\Application Data\moka5\Engine\env\
The file has a zero, no trailing chars.
Is that correct, if so, I've done it and it made no difference?
Also, I don't know if you wanted the log file still, I think the posts may have come out of order.
If you do it's at http://www.whadup.com/downloads/m5engine.log
Thank you
Hi, That is abnormally long.
Hi,
That is abnormally long. Could you help us track down this by answering these questions:
- Install type (Host install or USB)
- Size of cache you specified
- Geographical location
- Speed of internet connection (up/down)
Also, could you send your file "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\moka5\Engine\m5engine.log" to [email protected]? We'd like to check if network connections are timing out or being throttled.
Finally, could you try downloading this file using your web browser:
http://repo.moka5.com/gentoo-kde/ver-2/system.cdsk
and let us know the download speed you get?
Thanks for trying out the LivePC Engine and we hope that we can get to the bottom of this quickly.
-John
