This LivePC brings you
- Completely anonymized browsing using Tor

- Linux-based environment for security
- Firefox web browser (v2)
- Thunderbird email client with Enigmail
- GAIM Instant Messenger with Encryption
- Automatic use of OpenDNS for phishing protection and fast DNS lookups

Note: You can put a background.jpg file in your LivePC Local Documents and it will be used as the desktop background.
Note: You can put a keyboard.xmodmap file in your LivePC Local Documents and it will be used to remap the keys on startup. German users can simply extract that file, rename it to keyboard.xmodmap and place it in the Fearless Browser documents folder.
Downloading
Try going to the tools menu and choose downloads.
performance & gfx
1) how does the performance degrade from using the livepc engines? have you thought about developing a standard set of benchmarks to see the degradation, and if so can you publish them?
2) when is your directx stuff coming out?
3) this stuff is pretty sweet, I think I'm going to use it to build a VPN network, will publish the LivePC later.
I'm a complete newbee at
I'm a complete newbee at this. How can I edit this LivePC?
I would like it to have only Firefox 2.0 and some selected add-in's.
Am I allowed to do this?
just short of perfection
It is not obvious how to activate or install VMware-tools. VMware tools is a critical piece of software for performance and cut-n-paste between the LivePC and host OS.
editing fearless
You are allowed to edit it however you see fit. You can edit the menu bar by right clicking on the desktop and choosing terminal. Then type "nano /usr/share/fbpanel/default". Press Ctrl-W to search and then type firefox and hit enter. Your at the place in the file where the programs are defined. You can delete whatever you want. If you want to install firefox extension, you can just do it through the firefox ui.
vmware tools
The vmware tools are installed in the virtual machine. If you wish to play with them, go to the desktop, right click and choose terminal. Then type vmware-toolbox and hit enter.
The vmware graphics driver and mouse driver are both built into the latest version of the xorg X11 server.
Spanish keyboard
Interesting, but with a great obstacle: I do not know like forming my Spanish keyboard, and being able to put one @ to form the mail program.
Spanish keyboard
to bring a @ into the form, use shift and 2, but I'm also very interested in changing the keyboard layout to a different language

Loading a keymap
Minimize your windows so you can see the desktop within the Fearless Browser. Right click and choose 'Terminal' from the menu that appears. type 'sudo loadkeys es'. That should do it. There are many many keymaps in the LivePC, located in /usr/share/keymaps.
If you want this behavior permanently, enable local changes and add that command to the beginning of the file /etc/conf.d/local.start
Java Support
How do you add the Java 6 runtimes??
I had a go following the instructions from the Java website without success.
Cisco VPN client support?
I was wondering how hard it might be to the the Cisco VPN client installed and configured. I've done it with Ubuntu on Moka5 but the Fearless VM looks bit different.
Also on Ubuntu you had to be root to run the initial connection and I was wondering about ideas how to get around that?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

German keyboard
I downloaded the german keyboard file, renamed und put it in LivePC Local Documents, but nothing happened. My Keyboard stays US.
What could be wrong?
Is there a way to switch US-Mozilla to German Mozilla?
Thanks for Help.

Firefox 2.0.0.1 Alpha...WTF???
Browse the web without a care? It seems the maintainer is doing some kind of updating (latest release is 08/20/07 as of this post ). But as this LivePC focuses on the Browsing experience, how can it be using a Browser that's 10 months outdated, and an ALPHA release at that. Honestly that takes the whole fearless notion away for me.
My rating stays at 1 star until they update Firefox, or provide some way for automatic updates or apt-get or something.
Fearless Updates
This fearless browser will not be updated anymore. Please use the new fearless browser at
http://www.moka5.com/node/1325. It has a dramatically improved user interface and new user customizable features.
Loading a keymap
I would like to load the german keymap permanently and so I tried to edit the local.start file. This did not work because this file can only be changed by root as user. How can I login
the fearless Browser as root or change the file in another way?
german keymap
You can act as the root use by prepending "sudo " to your command. For example,
sudo nano /etc/conf.d/local.start
trying to update firefox?
Is it possible to update the firefox to 2.0? I was trying to d/l the setup file for 2.0 but not able to start the save process for the setup file. I get the save/run dialog of firefox and after clicking on save nothing happens... Am I doing something wrong?
