no network
I have no network in the LivePC. It appears that NAT was not created properly.
It is a desktop
It is a desktop installation. "Connected" is checked. Here is the output from ifconfig. I have to type it by hand since I can find no way to cut and paste it.
ifconfig:

Bridged doesn't work either.

Is that the default LivePC
Is that the default LivePC that you are using?
OO2Go+?
I have tried OO2Go+ and
I have tried OO2Go+ and Ubuntu2Go. Both have the same problem.

Keith,
Keith,
Do you see any error in /var/log/messages when the system is doing a dhcp request? Enter this command: sudo grep dhcp /var/log/messages and see if it has any error.
Another thing I notice on the ifconfig output you sent is that you have an inet6 addr entry there. What kind of network card you have on your PC? Can you also do an ipconfig /all on your PC?
On your Windows machine, can you check to see if VMware DHCP service and VMware NAT Service are running when you are running the LivePC engine.
We have opened ticket #2586 to track this issue.
my network settings
This machine is a laptop (Dell) with a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit controller. It also has a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-card which is disabled at the moment. It is connected to our campus network (100 Mb) and obtains its network settings via DHCP. There are no DHCP errors in the log.

There is no VMware DHCP service or VMware NAT service running.

no VM services running
I am running McAfee VirusScan Enterprise v 8.0i and the Windows firewall.
I now have LivePC running with network enabled. As stated earlier, I had no VM NAT or DHCP services running. In the Windows event logs I found entries indicating those services (and the VMware auth service) did not start properly "service did not respond to the start or control response in a timely fashion".
I found several dozen entvutil.exe processes running. These are part of the McAfee service but there should never be so many of them. I have no idea if they were initiated in response to something happening with LivePC installation or startup, or if this was just a coincidence. It is not unheard of for the AV software to go a little bonkers. I could not reboot the machine cleanly, I eventually had to force it with the power button.
On rebooting everything seems OK. I now suspect system problems (of unknown origin) were preventing the proper startup of the needed VMware services.
For future troubleshooting I think you were on the right track with the questions about the NAT and DHCP services. Obviously those need to be running. FW issues are not going to come into play if there are no packets being generated to begin with.
Thanks for your help.

Glad your problem was fixed.
Glad your problem was fixed. We'll keep on a lookout for missing NAT and DHCP services in the future.

Is it a desktop installation
Is it a desktop installation or is it an USB installation?
On top of the windows, under the Ethernet tab, can you check to see if "Connected" is checked? Can you send us the output of ifconfig? Have you try bridge network?
