This cute browser appliance has a built in set of links to entertain young children. Tux the linux penguin also delivers a painting program that makes all kinds of funny noises. You can also set up ZooBuh email for your child. It lets you filter their email.
This has big fonts and simplified navigation options for kids. There is a blog entry about Ladybug. Have a look at the first few comments to see screenshots.

This is a great idea for a Live PC. Unfortunately, when I try it out, I find many broken links. This would be a problem for real little kids :-)

I fixed all the links besides tuxpaint, he needs a little magic. I also simplified the interface by removing the address bar and buttons a younger child shouldn't need. (Thanks Sula)

Now the cute kiddie painting program is integrated as well as links to a decent kids email service.
