Need help plz.
Not sure where to post this, so here it goes.
My system specs are as follows:
Core2Duo Extreme Quad 6700 @ 2.67ghz
8gb of Kingston ddr 667
2x BFG 8800GTX OC Water cooled edition 768mb ea.
1x 150gb RaptorX HDD and 4x Baracuda 750gb Striped Raid array
Running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 edition.
Now why would I build an insane rig like this you ask.... Simple really... World of warcraft account leveling. I use a program that levels characters and I'm looking for a solution to my issue.... The software only runs on a 32bit machine. Based on my system specs I was thinking I could run from 6-12 virtual 32bit machines, so I can run WOW and the program.
But my issue is this. The "Moka5" VMViewer will not support my Networking on my EVGA 680i motherboard. However if I use the actual VMWARE software, the 32bit operating systems I install work with it just fine. I was wondering if your 3d tools work on the full blown VMware software or just on this "MOKA5" version of it.
I've got just about the same
I've got just about the same thing as the above user with a few changes and a lot of overclocking - 64-bit of course.
I've got everything setup and been through a ton of forums -- I just cant get dx8 to pass. Since I cant get passed dx8 and dx9 verification - the game wont run.
Errors:
Warcraft says "Failed to find a suitable display device.
DXDIAG:
Direct3D 7 test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 5 (GetDeviceCaps): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)
Direct3D 9 test results: Display driver does not support API (DDI version too low)
Any help would be awsome.
Hi, You have to install the
Hi,
You have to install the moka5 tools in your LivePC. In some cases, the installer does not correctly overwrite the d3d8thk.dll file in the C:\WINDOWS directory. Manually rename m5d3d.dll to d3d8thk.dll and try the dxdiag again.
Also, please verify that "Guest services" under the Advanced tab in "Configure LivePC" is turned on for your LivePC.

Guest services is checked --
Guest services is checked -- and I've installed Moka5 tools 9800 into my livepc. I actually had to do it several times before direct3d even showed up in dxdiag.
I've also already renamed the file. still at a loss here.
Sorry you are having
Sorry you are having troubles. Could you run dxdiag on both the guest and host, click "Save All Information" and send the files to [email protected]? That would help us in tracking down the problem.
Another thing to check is, go to the Display Control Panel and on the Settings tab, click Advanced. Go to Troubleshoot and make sure Hardware acceleration is set to Full and "Enable write combining" is turned on.
When the 3D is working, in the "Display" tag in dxdiag, Direct3D should show "Enabled", DirectX 7 test should fail with "Test failed at step 8 (Creating 3D Device)", and DirectX 8 test should succeed. Closing dxdiag and clicking "Cancel" on DirectX 8 test then "OK" on DirectX 9 test should also succeed. (If you run both DX8 and DX9 tests without restarting dxdiag, you may get a "GetDeviceCaps" error.)
Thanks,
John
Gotcha - i'll be sure to
Gotcha - i'll be sure to email you those files. Quick questions though - Enabling write combining, is that something I want to enable in the host or the livepc?
Thx for telling me what response i should get when 3d is working. Right now DX7 test is successful :(
Verified the settings in troubleshooting - they're correct in livepc -- cant touch it in the host - so i'm gonna assume it doesn't matter.
Hi, Could you compare your
I just got my response from
I just got my response from the support department...
Hi Nicholas,
Windows does not support DirectX on Vista 32 or 64 bit. Since we use DirectX for the for 3D Acceleration, your environment will not work in a LivePC.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Regards,
Xxxx
---Just a question here... but last time I checked... vista used directx...
Refresher here.. running vista 64-bit with xp sp2 in livepc. Since we all know that vista supports directx and xp supports directx and LivePC supports directx... am I just confused?
Hi, Actually that response
Hi,
Actually that response should have said "Moka5 Engine does not support DirectX on Vista." At the current time, the 3D graphics acceleration only works when running XP on XP. This may change at some point in the future. Sorry about the confusion.

Ok awsome :) I was almost
Ok awsome :) I was almost thinking the support person was just responding to respond and didn't want to deal with me.
So, I guess no big deal... I'll just have to uh... suck it hahaa.
And does 3D acceleration
And does 3D acceleration work with XP running on Bare Metal ?
I need to run Wow also.
Since I have to run 8 to 16 sessions, do I need a monster graphic card, or the ressources are about the same as running on one computer ?
Thank you !
Currently, the DirectX 3D
Currently, the DirectX 3D acceleration only works when running XP on XP. To make the graphics run faster, you can reduce the resolution and turn the detail all the way down, or just minimize the window.

I want a Blizzard ran
I want a Blizzard ran LivePC for Warcraft. no more updating or installing, just load the livePC and play. I think this will be the future of gaming.
So keep working on the 3D support.
But does 3D engine work on
But does 3D engine work on XP on XP 64 ?
As I need to share 8go of RAM
Thank you !
3D on XP 64
I am running XP 64 on my host and I was able to run 3D games on a 32-bit XP guest.
Hi Jason,
Hi Jason,
Quite an impressive rig there ;-). Sorry, the 3D acceleration only works on moka5, not on regular VMware. I don't know why networking is not working on your EVGA 680i. We have one of those motherboards here and it works fine. Besides, we use exactly the same version of VMware. Could it be that you have the networking mode set differently? The default in moka5 is NAT, whereas in VMware the default is Bridged. You can try changing it in the toolbar at the top of the VMplayer window.
Are you running the Windows version or the Bare Metal version? The Windows version will likely work better in your case; the hardware support for Bare Metal is not as good. If you have a working VMware virtual machine, you can import it into moka5 and use it from there. (You may have to convert the vmdk disk format if you are using WS6.0 or snapshot volumes.)
Please keep us updated as I would love to see this working.
