moka5

Totally independent hosting of LivePCs

I was successful in hosting the LivePC at a local server. But the moca5 engine still talks to www.moka5.com and retrieves couple of XML files before talking to the local hosting server. (May be there are more exchanges but following through the .lpc file this is what I deduce.) This means the client PC needs to have an internet access to retrieve the VMs stored in the Local server.

Is it possible to make this totally an intranet solution. If so what is the procedure.

Hi Joe, One way to do that

Hi Joe,

One way to do that is to just download the .lpc, .rss and .xml files for your LivePC from moka5.com, edit them to change the moka5.com URL to point to your internal server, then host them as files on your internal server.

moka5 Engine just checks the URLs for available updates. Once it has received the XML files, it does not need to reconnect to run the LivePC. (Although it does try to connect every 20 minutes or so to check for updates to subscribed LivePCs.)

Let me know if that is clear or if you need assistance.

Hi John, It worked.

Hi John,

It worked. Thanks for the help.

May I know if Moka5 is planning to provide a tool to publish locally. And it would be great if it is integrated into the moka5 engine itself.

thanks
Joseph

Hi Joseph, We are planning

Hi Joseph,

We are planning to make local publishing easier in future versions of moka5 Engine. If you have any suggestions or ideas about local publishing, please don't hesitate to let us know.

How do you normally post content on your local server? Do you upload the files via a protocol like sftp or WebDAV? Is integration with the upload step important or would you be happy to manually upload the files yourself?

how

how do you download the rss and xml files? I downloaded them and all I get is;
id=vm-name&url=http://66.xx.xx.xx/livepc/vm-name
in every file

You need "register" the

You need "register" the LivePC with us before you can get those meta-file.

Go to: http://www.moka5.com/node/add/livepc_version
and make your LivePC private.
