USB Hard Drive and Partitioning

Hi folks,

i'm using bare metal on an external hard drive. When installing ubuntu, my hd is swapping all the time. Does bare metal use a standard disk size for its partitions or does it use the maximum available size (my disk is 300 GB)?

Hi Steve,

When you installed bare metal on your external hard drive, did you boot from CD to do it? If so, did you choose normal or dual-boot?

How did you install Ubuntu?
