I'm using the .iso image from the latest APC mag http://apcmag.com/6185/whats_in_apc_june_2007 In order to get it to run I had to import it as a live cd & it runs really slow, like Red Hat 5 on a Pentium II with FAT file system. If so you might be running into a problem that we're addressing in the next release. Check out a post in the troubleshooting section of our forum about it. Hope this helps, and sorry for the bother. Thu, 07 Jun 2007 23:37:14 -0700 Thanks John I've just http://www.moka5.com/node/915#comment-950 Thanks John I've just downloaded the latest upgrade to Moka5 & it now says my Ubuntu's path is invalid. It's not recognising the .iso image on my hardrive. I'll try again with a new LivePC. I'm using the live cd Ubuntu from the latest APC magazine which came with Moka5 as well. I ran it ok from my dvd drive but I wanted to use that for other things so I needed to install Ubuntu & Moka5 looked like the solution. I tried the Microsoft VM but it wouldn't even load Ubuntu, kept saying there were checksum errors. And I found the Moka5 gui more user friendly, more intuitive. My machine has 1 gb of DDR2 RAM so that shouldn't be an issue. I've also allowed 30gb for the cache. I'm a bit reluctant to download another version of Ubuntu as I have a 1 gb download limit at present. Regards Bob Tue, 05 Jun 2007 17:25:44 -0700 Hi Bob, Sorry you are not http://www.moka5.com/node/915#comment-942 Hi Bob, Sorry you are not seeing good performance. Are you using this one, or did you build your own? I've used the one published on this site quite a bit and I haven't experienced any slowness issues. I just published an update to it a couple of days ago. One thing I found was that it was very important to set the OS type correctly to "Ubuntu". If it is set to Windows you get very poor performance. You can edit it by clicking on "Edit LivePC Configuration..." in the advanced settings. You also didn't mention how much RAM your machine has. If you only have 512MB, you might see slowdowns depending on what else is running on your machine. We recommend 1GB for a good experience. You may also see slow performance initially if the LivePC is not fully fetched. This is especially true if you have a slower Internet connection or live far away from our server. Once it is fully fetched, the performance should be normal. -John Mon, 04 Jun 2007 22:33:34 -0700 Ubuntu is slow in Moka5 http://www.moka5.com/node/915 I'm running Fearless Browser & Ubuntu Feisty Fawn in Moka5 & Ubuntu is really slow running some programs. It takes about 5 minutes for OpenOffice Writer to open. I have allowed 30gb for the cache & 256mb for memory. Any ideas why it would be slow? TIA Bob Mon, 04 Jun 2007 21:23:43 -0700
