The LivePC engine has an integrated set of patent-pending techniques to enable many new uses of virtualization. The techniques are designed to support the distribution and use of managed livePCs by a large number of fixed and mobile users over the local and especially the wide area network. LivePC Engine uses VMPlayer as the Virtual Machine Monitor but we incorporated many features that improve the standard VMware products (Vmplayer and ACE). Here are some of the enhancements: The LivePC engine automatically keeps many distributed computers up-to-date. Using our technology, users of a LivePC will automatically receive the updates without doing anything. Using just the VMware player, the users will have to download the whole new VM again. Or, more conventional PC system management tools have to be used inside the virtual machines. The LivePC engine streamlines the user experience so it is easier for users to get new LivePCs and try them out without even downloading entire LivePCs. The streaming and caching technology makes it faster to provision equipment in case of hardware failures or setting up new facilities. Our LivePC engine on a USB drive is automatically backed up to a home computer; it is too easy to lose a USB drive. The LivePC engine is the first virtualization engine that allows you to play 3D Windows graphics applications. Our solution fully utilizes the 3D graphics capability of the host computer. There are more exciting features coming down the pipe, please make sure you stay tuned. If you want to discuss this in more details, we can set up a conference call with you. Send an email to [email protected] and we can go from there. But can someone help me undersand the difference between moka5 and vmware? What does moka5 do above and beyond what can be done with vmware? I mean, is this something that vmware can easily do by adding a couple of features? Sun, 20 May 2007 14:54:34 -0700
