thx again for clarifying :-) I'll try and summarize to see if I got you right: When you use the Start the LivePC all changes goes to moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5User\Application Data\moka5\Engine\[Live PC]\activation On a new start, the [Live PC]\activation will be used again. If you have "Let me make changes" the activation data will persist on each and every start. means that anything that gets changed during work with a livepc ends up there and if I allow local changes the data will be re-used but what if I don't allow local changes? will that data inside activation eventually get cleaned up?

Since you've specificed the LivePCs that are to be used and know the current size ~ 1.6G. All this goes to the cache during download. LivePC Engine's diskfull message occurs when less than 400MB or less than 10% of free space is available. When you use the Start the LivePC all changes goes to moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5User\Application Data\moka5\Engine\[Live PC]\activation On a new start, the [Live PC]\activation will be used again. If you have "Let me make changes" the activation data will persist on each and every start. If you are not customizing the LivePC, 2G should be sufficient unless the publisher of the LivePCs installs lots of new software and the LivePC bloats up. ok, thx for the answers, indeed I found the gui option for backup which is nice, still I have some more open questions: - diskspace full: I have a 4GB stick, meaning ~3,84GB usable. gave 3.5GB for cache as I plan on having permanently vista and a linux derivate on the stick,vista ~1.6GB linux ~1GB so there is ~0.9GB left from the cache for customization - regarding the shared files - I understood that I can use a folder called shared files, which lets me access a folder on the stick outside of the cache (meaning it has to fit into the remaining 3,84 - 3,5 = 0,34GB - right? This folder will be accessible from inside my livepc, like a mapping, right? - regarding the synchronization questions I had, I think those were answered in my other post please bear with me, I really love the idea behind moka5, I have spent the whole weekend just playing around with it :-) but I need to fill some more gaps in my understanding because, like I also stated in the survey I completed, the information is scatterd in too many places, aka blog, forum, faq, etc. and believe me, I have read almost anything that can be found here and am currently making a Debian 4.0 livepc which I will release and maintain here when ready. ###edit### now my usb stick is really full, it got filled up above those 3.5GB I assigned for the cache, have a look and see if you can understand this:

I jsut don't understand why I have 384MB stored outside of the cache in the folder: H:\moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5User\Application Data\moka5\Engine\windowsvistaultimateedition I thought all data except the shared files were stored inside the cache? If I am wrong please give me a suggestion how to configure my stick? I described the current config above

The USB installation has changed slightly since the documentation was written. The USB Installation non longer asks to configure backup and this has been implemented in the UI. There should be a "Configure backup" at the bottom of the UI. For cache files, removing/deleting LivePCs will not reduce the size of the cache files. The cache is used for downloaded LivePCs. From you're post, it looks like you've gotten further over the weekend. The DiskFull is based on a % of free space of the USB. I believe it's based on 10% but I will confirm. Kevin

I am slightly confused... I have an installation on my local disk, gave it 4GB cache still have 10GB free space,have deleted severall livepcs from the local install to free cache, still inside the cache dir, I have 2 files each with 2GB... then I installed onto my USB disk I purchased only for being able to take my livepc with me gave it 3.5GB for cache, the rest to 4GB is for other stuff and files It never asked me about backup during install neither about speeding up launching from the usb stick as stated somewhere else on your site...
