However, in the enterprise environments, they want to lock down that option as they don't want their users to install whatever they want. One way the system adminstrators are thinking about is to first have a base Windows LivePC. Then they create LivePCs with all the approved applications on top of the base. For example, one LivePC with the accounting applications for the accounting department and another one with the engineering applications for the R&D department. This approach will reduce the support cost for the IT departments because they verify all the LivePCs and if the users mess them up, they just need to reboot. No need to re-install anything. My second question in the previous post was: For LivePC to be more useful in enterprise, where the admin maintains a common pc image (enterprise apps+patches+malware/adware removed etc), how can users have their own apps on top of the admin image ? On successive reboots user wants the updated admin image + his own apps... An alternative(or even complementary) to how pcs are managed in enterprises today. This is one of the markets/models livepc is targetting, right? Thanks Mon, 11 Dec 2006 09:18:13 -0800 1. The downloaded files http://www.moka5.com/node/434#comment-478 1. The downloaded files goes to /home/me/LivePC local documents Select the 4th icon to get the desktop, right click on the background, and select terminal. This will start xterm. type "mount" to see if the about path shows. If the mount point does not exist, shutdown Fearless and then Enable Windows File Sharing on the host 2. To customize the LivePC, enable the "Let me make changes" option for the LivePC. Make the necessary changes to the LivePC, publish your new LivePC and add a new link to the beta garage so you can share it with others.
