You can explicitly put the drive letter you want, like "D:" or "E:". "auto detect" just makes it use the first drive it finds. make sure the type is "cdrom-raw". If this does not help, please provide the following information to [email protected] so we may assist you better. 1. Model of CD-ROM/DVDROM from Device Manager on host. 2. the vm.vmx and vmware.log from the [LivePC's]\activation folder when not the CD-ROM/DVDROM is not accessible The vm.vmx and vmware.log can be found in the following location: * For Desktop Installation: C:\Documents and Settings\[your_username]\Application Data\moka5\Engine * For USB Insstallation: device_letter:\moka5\Documents and Settings\moka5User\Application Data\moka5\Engine Thanks Kevin Tue, 05 Dec 2006 00:52:13 -0800 Can't Access Host CDROM while in the VIrtual Environment http://www.moka5.com/node/421 I'm having an issue with accessing the CDROM/DVDROM while in the virtual environment. When I try to start my Virtual Environment (vm running Windows XP Pro), it throws an error while loading that says that "I do not appear to have a valid CDROM Device" and to "try running VMPlayer in Legacy mode". I'm not sure how to enable legacy mode though... After some digging, I went into the configuration file and changed the CDROM device type from "CDROM-RAW" to "atapi-CDROM". This allowed the VM to boot without throwing an error, and I see the cd drive in MY COMPUTER in the virtual environment, but when I try to access it, it says "Please insert a disk into the drive" even though there is a disk in the drive. At this point, I am not able to access the cd drive on the host computer which makes installing software in the virtual environment tricky. Mon, 04 Dec 2006 06:20:33 -0800
