Keep in mind that the bare metal install includes Linux with lots of device drivers for just about every piece of hardware out there. It also needs room for updates and a swap partition, not to mention room for caching downloaded LivePCs and stored data. 2GB is more comfortable for a bare metal install. We haven't done much work in stripping down the size of the bare metal install. In the future, the requirement may be relaxed, but it's not a priority right now. The Windows version does not need as much space. A 512MB USB stick runs pretty well with the Windows LivePC Engine and the Fearless Browser LivePC. -John Fri, 15 Dec 2006 01:40:08 -0800 minimum space http://www.moka5.com/node/383#comment-474 hi, What is the mimimum space the BareMetal Version needs. Can it fit into a usb of 1GB space? If not what is it i have to do ( if i ever can) to fit the BareMetal version into my usb stick (of 1GB capacity). Thanks, Chaitanya. To do this, follow the instructions on Bare metal startup guide to perform the bare metal install. Choose the USB drive as the hard drive to install to. After the install completes, you can reboot the computer into the USB drive. For this to work, your computer should support booting from a USB drive, and your computer's BIOS should be configured to boot from the USB drive. -Ramesh Wed, 22 Nov 2006 18:20:54 -0800 Is moka5 bootable? http://www.moka5.com/node/383 I may be missing something here - but is the bare metal version of moka5 bootable from a portable USB device? i.e. can I just plug it in to a PC reboot and hey presto it boots straight into the LivePC? thanks, M.
