Graham, The m5gdrv is related to the moka5 Guest service that is enabled for this LivePC. Is this a persistent or transient error? If this is a persistent error, do you have any serial port devices? You can disable the moka5 Guest Services which is available in the Configure, Advanced Tab. Guest Services is required for DirectX 3D (when running XP on XP). DirectX 3D is not supported on Vista host machines. Which tablet PC are you using? Also if you can provide the support logs via Ctrl-Shift-F1, we can review it for errors. I tried running my Vista LPC on a vmware naive PC running Windows XP, and got this error serial(): Unable to read from the "\\.\pipe\m5gdrv" named pipe. The system can not find the file specified. The device will be disconnected.

Hi John I installed moka5 to the USB drive on a tablet PC with no vmware software currently installed. I got no error installing vmware tools (with the vmxnet drivers). Only got an error with the moka5tools which said "ended prematurely" both on installation and on repair. VirtualHW.version was set to 4. Changing the ethernet0 to e1000 works though I had to set dns manually. Any idea on how I can get access to the wireless Nic instead ? Also, I've got an ! beside the Multimedia audio controller with no drivers installed.

Hi Graham, What error did you get when you tried to install the VMXnet drivers? If it said something about "incompatible hardware version", can you verify that the "virtualHW.version" in the VMX file (accessible from the Advanced tab in the LivePC settings) is set to at least 4? Also, did you already have VMplayer or VMware Workstation installed when you installed Moka5, or did you let Moka5 install it? If you still cannot get the VMXnet drivers working, you can also try adding this line to the VMX file:


    ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000"

This will change the Ethernet adapter type to one for which Vista has a built-in driver. -John

I'm having similar problems. I downloaded moka5 today and installed it on a usb drive. Then created a Windows Vista Home Live PC following the instructions. However, there is no driver installed for the network adapter. I downloaded and installed vmware tools ( off another usb drive ) but that only fixed the video. I then tried to install LivePC tools but the setup wizard ends prematurely. I attempted to use the vmware pci network adapter as the driver but that won't start. Host OS is Vista Business Premium.

Thank you John. With your help I was able to install Vista. Now I don't seem to be able to connect to the internet. I read somewhere in the forum (http://www.moka5.com/node/1474) that you need some extra software to have a network access with Vista? I did install the latest VMware but when I restart my Vista LivePC I still have not access to internet... Can you point me to the right direction, like you did last time for the installation?* Thanks. Roberto

Hi, Thanks for trying moka5 Engine. Please see these detailed Vista installation instructions. Specifically, you'll need to go to the VMware BIOS and enable 32 bit I/O. Hope that helps, and please let us know if you have any more issues. Thanks, John

Hello, I have a legitimate Windows Vista OEM license and am trying to install it on a virtual machine. When asked where I want to install Windows, I can see 2 virtual disks, but none is accepted by the installation. I get a message saying that the hardware of this computer cannot boot from this disk (approximate translation from French). What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
