MokaFive Named to GoingGreen Silicon Valley 100 by AlwaysOn

Virtual desktop management company selected as category winner for Data Center Efficiency

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—October 12, 2010MokaFive™, the virtual desktop management company, today announced that it has been named to the AlwaysOn GoingGreen Silicon Valley Top 100—and overall category winner for Data Center Efficiency. The GoingGreen Silicon Valley 100 recognizes companies with game-changing approaches and technologies that are likely to disrupt existing markets and entrenched players. The AlwaysOn editorial team and industry experts selected the winners based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value and media buzz.

“MokaFive is honored to be ranked in the GoingGreen Silicon Valley Top 100, which includes some of the most innovative companies trying to create opportunities in green technology,” said Dale Fuller, CEO of MokaFive. "Being named category winner for Data Center Efficiency brings recognition to the energy and data center savings we’re already enabling for our customers—savings that have a positive impact on corporate IT costs.”

Compared to server-based computing such as virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), MokaFive's distributed virtual desktop solution offers a 90% reduction in the number of servers needed—that is, 90% less power, less space, less cooling and less bandwidth. In addition, MokaFive allows more efficient hardware provisioning for companies, enabling BYOC (bring your own computer) programs where employees can use their personal machines to run a secure, fully encapsulated virtual image of the corporate desktop.

GoingGreen Silicon Valley 100 companies will be honored at AlwaysOn’s fourth annual GoingGreen Silicon Valley on October 12, 2010 at the Presidio’s Golden Gate Club in San Francisco, Calif. This executive event features CEO presentations and high-level debates on the most promising emerging green technologies and entrepreneurial opportunities.

“The GoingGreen Silicon Valley Top 100 winners have thrived during trying economic conditions through innovation and creativity,” said Weston McBride, greentech editor at AlwaysOn. “It is by their example that the next generation of clean technologies will transform the global economy with more robust systems primed for sustained growth.”

The GoingGreen Silicon Valley 100 winners were selected from among thousands of domestic and international greentech companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists and greentech industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2010 list.
