MokaFive Accelerates Mac Use in the Enterprise with VirtualBox Client Preview
Expands customer choice in software and hardware with open source VirtualBox hypervisor
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—April 29, 2010—MokaFive™ today announced the beta release of its virtual desktop technology on VirtualBox, the powerful open source, cross-platform, x86 desktop hypervisor from Oracle. Now customers can create, manage and run LivePC virtual environments using VirtualBox on any hardware running any operating system. As the only hypervisor to offer an Open Source Edition for Macs, VirtualBox with MokaFive eliminates management barriers to Macs as a corporate desktop choice.
With its support of multiple platforms (Windows or Mac) and ability to run online or offline, MokaFive delivers end-user computing choice to customers. Now this choice has been extended to the underlying hypervisor with support for both VMware (Player and Fusion) and VirtualBox, the leading open source client-side hypervisor.
The VirtualBox beta clients are fully integrated with the generally available MokaFive Suite 2.8, which provides a rich set of capabilities and policy controls, allowing IT administrators to define levels of lockdown based on specific groups and privileges. Regardless of which hypervisor or hardware is being used at the end-point, the IT administrator deploys and manages the end-points from one console.
“MokaFive has long supported end-user computing choice, and today we offer up another very real choice that has eluded many—Macs in the enterprise—with the release of our VirtualBox client beta,” said Dale Fuller, MokaFive CEO.
“With this release, MokaFive has reinforced its commitment to be hypervisor-agnostic. Extending their management capabilities to the leading open source hypervisor is a smart step that expands the range of hardware MokaFive can support,” said Scott Crawford, EMA Research Director. “I look forward to continued expansion of MokaFive’s capability, particularly as the company expands to include Type 1 client hypervisor functionality. With its layered approach to managing the virtualized endpoint, MokaFive has staked out a distinctive position in one of the most provocative—and challenging—developments in personal computing."
