Moka5™ Lets Mac Users Bring Their Virtual Desktop Anywhere

Now available, Moka5 for Mac beta enables a LivePC™ to be ported and securely used on almost any computer, resulting in a consistent computing environment

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — January 15, 2008 — Moka5, the desktop virtualization services company, today announced the beta release of Moka5 for Mac OS X, which lets Mac users running VMware Fusion port their virtualized desktop, known as a LivePC, to almost any other computer using a simple flash drive such as a USB stick or an iPod. With Moka5 for Mac beta, users can take their work computer home and their home computer to work, enjoying a consistent computing environment using almost any X86 desktop or laptop.

"Moka5's goal is to make computers as easy to use as consumer electronic devices. Plug in a USB drive or iPod with a LivePC into almost any computer and start working immediately. Unplug and leave nothing behind," said John Whaley, co-founder and principal engineer at Moka5. "The Moka5 for Mac OS X beta combines this ease-of-use with a level of portability that makes computing possible from just about anywhere.

Moka5's approach to desktop management leverages leading virtualization technologies to provide hassle-free mobile computing environments for end users in the form of LivePCs. Moka5 for Mac beta allows LivePCs to take virtualization beyond simply running different operating systems on a Mac computer by providing VMware Fusion users with enhanced computing features such as self-healing capabilities, user data protection, and automatic updates.

Moka5 for Mac beta gives VMware Fusion users access to the Moka5 LivePC Library, a community-generated selection of LivePCs for many uses. Moka5 for Mac beta allows VMware Fusion users to test drive various Linux systems, such as Ubuntu, SuSE and FreeBSD as well as commercially-available Linux solutions such as the $199 Walmart PC, One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) and EeePC environments. Other popular LivePCs include the Fearless Browser for anonymous web browsing, Quake 3-D gaming and OpenOffice productivity suite. The Moka5 LivePC Library is available at lab.mokafive.com.

System Requirements
Moka5 for Mac OS X beta requires an Intel-based Mac running Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5 and VMware Fusion 1.1. Users are responsible for licenses for VMware Fusion and any operating systems and applications requiring licenses that run in LivePCs.
