Apple Watch Means Exciting Times for Individuals and Business Alike
After months (actually years) of rumors and anticipation, the Apple Watch was officially unveiled on Monday. And, although it won’t be released in stores until April 24, that doesn’t mean people need to wait until then to start planning for it.
Along with all the cool personal ways people will be using it – music, fitness tracking, maybe even telling time – how it will be used for business hasn’t been fully realized. Salesforce.com appears to be the company the best prepared for the new dawn of wearables for business. If you haven’t seen their Salesforce on Apple Watch video, it’s definitely worth a view.
Although being able to access pipeline information and funnel reports on your wrist is incredibly cool, it also raises new security questions. Just like with laptops, smartphones and tablets, securing data on this new endpoint will be necessary. As we should all know by now, anywhere you can access data is also somewhere a data leak may occur.
It’s time to again redefine what we consider to be a mobile device and how we protect what we are accessing with it. The secure container that started on Windows and Mac laptops, which is now being embraced for iOS and Android, is a logical approach. With the advent of wearables, it’s exciting times for consumers, business users and technology companies that will make it all work securely.
